- Nikon Coolpix Picture Download Software Starting Nikon Transfer 2 (Mac OS) To configure Nikon Transfer 2 so that it always starts automatically, launch Image Capture and select Nikon Transfer 2 as the default application that starts when a camera or memory card is connected.
- I just bought this camera and I don't yet have a memory card in it, so just I'm trying to upload the few pictures that the memory of the camera is able to store without a memory card. I'm using the USB cable to connect my camera to my laptop, but when I do so there are no signs that the camera is connected. The camera doesn't turn on or flash, and nothing appears in iPhoto.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). I have Nikon coolpix S230. I am unable to transfer photos from the camera to my laptop. When I connect the camera through.
I used to use Nikon Transfer to transfer photos from my Nikon (Coolpix P5100) to my computer (Mac) and it was easy.
Now I have upgraded to OS 10.5.8. Why do they have to make it so complicated? I now have to use ViewNX 2 but I can't figure out how to do it. On the View NX 2 screen there's a camera icon labeled Transfer but it is grayed out. I can't find any instructions on how to use View NX2.
How do I transfer photos?
Is there any information available on how to use View NX2?
Added (1). Thanks for the suggestion, Won for All. I've only been using a digital camera for a couple of years, don't do that much photography, would rather not buy another piece of equipment.
I don't even know what this Lexar Pro is, how it works, had to do some searching to find that UDMA is ultra direct memory access and SD reader is secure digital reader. I think this is a bit beyond me.
So if you could tell me how to use ViewNX 2 that would be great.
Added (2). Later -- Problem solved! I realized, I had to delete Nikon Transfer. Then, I could use View NX 2 and successfully downloaded the photos to my computer. It wasn't that hard to do, pretty intuitive. But the downloading was slow.
So for me, it wouldn't be worth buying the Lexar Pro. I can see that for people who do a lot of photograph it might be worth it, though.

You can just do it the old fashion and fast way…
Use a card reader, pop your card in, and drag and drop the images into a folder on your Mac. I use Lightroom & Photoshop, and find ViewNX to be not near as good.

I can transfer 8 GB of photos in about 5 minutes with my Lexar Pro UDMA compact flash, SD reader.
